The $1,299 ROG Xbox Ally X20 Sold Out Within Days of Launch
Windows Central found the handheld and its $2,499 bundle sold out at Best Buy and ASUS.com five days after the October 15 launch. ASUS hasn't shared sales figures or a restock date.

ASUS’s ROG Xbox Ally X20 went on sale on October 15, and within days it was gone. Windows Central reported on October 20 that both the standalone handheld and the limited bundle were sold out at Best Buy and ASUS.com. Based on a Reddit thread, the outlet thinks stock ran out on Sunday, October 18, or Monday, October 19.
Pricing
ASUS’s press release prices the handheld at US$1,299 and the bundle at US$2,499. Windows Central says the bundle adds XREAL AR glasses, a dbrand case and accessories in a Pelican case. The ASUS store page lists the handheld at $1,299.99. According to Windows Central, the existing ROG Xbox Ally X sells for $999, and preorders for the X20 opened on August 25.
What’s different
Windows Central says the chip and memory stay about the same (the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme with 24GB of slightly faster RAM), so performance is similar to the Ally X. The changes are elsewhere:
- a 7.4-inch OLED panel, up from a 7-inch IPS screen, with HDR up to 1,400 nits and Dolby Vision
- TMR joysticks and a redesigned D-pad
- updated cooling
- a faster microSD Express slot
- an 80Wh battery, per ASUS’s product summary
The caveat
A sellout tells you demand outran supply. It doesn’t tell you how many units shipped. Windows Central itself points to limited production as one possible reason. ASUS hasn’t published sales numbers or a restock date.
The X20 is also one of the devices getting the FSR 4.1 preview (our story).
