FSR 4.1 Is Coming to Xbox Series X|S and Is in Preview Now on Xbox Ally Handhelds
AMD's October 20 announcement covers Xbox Series X|S 'coming soon.' ASUS shipped an FSR 4.1 preview driver for the ROG Xbox Ally X and X20 on October 23, and the base Ally is next.

AMD and Microsoft announced on October 20 that FSR Upscaling 4.1, AMD’s machine-learning upscaler, is coming to the Xbox platform. Here’s where each device stands, based on the companies’ own statements.
Status by device
- ROG Xbox Ally X and ROG Xbox Ally X20: available now as a preview driver. ASUS released it on October 23.
- ROG Xbox Ally (base model): ASUS says support will come with “a GPU driver update coming soon.”
- Xbox Series X|S: AMD lists it as “coming soon.” Xbox’s Jason Ronald posted that FSR 4.1 will be available to developers on Series X|S “very soon.” That points to game developers adding it to their games, and no public date has been given.
How to try it on an Ally X or X20
According to ASUS, open Armoury Crate SE > Update Center > Preview Updates and install the latest GPU driver. Then turn on FSR Upscaling in AMD Software, or add the new FSR Upscaling tile in Command Center (press Y to customize the layout). Turn on FSR in a supported game’s settings, and restart the game if you need to.
ASUS says the toggle applies FSR 4.1 to games that support FSR 3.1 or newer, which it puts at over 400 games. It also warns that preview updates “may still contain bugs or instability.” If you’d rather wait, the driver moves to Official Updates when it leaves preview.
A smaller model for handhelds
AMD says it built a more efficient FSR 4.1 model for Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, Z2 Extreme and Z2 A processors. ASUS says the version on the Ally X and X20 is less than half the size of the original INT8 model.
