News Roundup: BLEACH Mirrors High, XREAL Aura, Ubuntu Core Desktop and Bazzite Testing
Bandai Namco's BLEACH game hits phones, the first Android XR glasses go on sale, Canonical restarts its immutable desktop with gaming in mind, and Bazzite testing gets small bumps

BLEACH Mirrors High launches on iOS and Android
Bandai Namco launched BLEACH Mirrors High on iOS and Android on October 28. The mobile action game is set after the Thousand-Year Blood War arc and tells an original story. A special broadcast on October 27 revealed 10 new squad members designed by series creator Tite Kubo, a full opening animation from PIERROT FILMS and the opening theme “CRITICAL” by suisoh. [Standing at the Top] Sosuke Aizen is the first limited summon character. As a launch bonus, all players get ★3 Ichigo Kurosaki, ★3 Rukia Kuchiki and enough Mirror Stones for 30 pulls. The game has in-app purchases and loot boxes.
XREAL Aura, the first Android XR glasses, goes on sale
XREAL and Google launched XREAL Aura on October 28, calling it the first wired XR glasses powered by Android XR. The glasses have transparent lenses with a 70-degree field of view, run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite platform and include Gemini. Through December 2026, the 12GB/256GB model costs $1,099 (normally $1,279) and the 16GB/512GB model costs $1,299 (normally $1,499). Launch markets are the US, Canada, Japan and South Korea, with orders at XREAL’s site and, in the US, Best Buy. Shipping is expected to start in mid-November.
Ubuntu Core Desktop is back, with gaming plans
Canonical has restarted Ubuntu Core Desktop, its immutable, all-snap version of Ubuntu, with a dedicated team, GamingOnLinux reports. VP of Engineering Jon Seager said the 2023 preview fell short and that splitting the desktop into separate snaps is a top priority. He pointed to Proton, the Steam Deck and the Lenovo Legion Go, and said he wants Core Desktop’s modular design to allow “a more resilient and independently updatable gaming stack, including graphics components.” He also said the Steam snap will get more attention and that dedicated gaming devices might not boot straight into a traditional desktop. No release date was given.
Bazzite testing gets small updates
Bazzite’s testing-45.20261028.1 build, released October 28, is a minor update. Its changelog lists UUPD moving from 1.5.3 to 1.5.4, with Linux kernel 7.2.11-ogc4.1 and Mesa 26.2.5. The NVIDIA Open 615.78.08 and NVIDIA LTS 580.178.04 drivers are unchanged. Testing users can switch with bazzite-rollback-helper rebase testing.
