Claude Personal Finance Opens in US Beta on Pro, Max, and Ultra
Read-only Plaid connections, up to two years of transactions, natural-language spend questions; Anthropic says it cannot move money and hub chats are not used for training

Anthropic is rolling out Personal Finance in Claude in beta this week for Pro, Max, and Ultra plans in the United States, the company says in its product article.
Connect bank and card accounts, then ask about balances and spending in everyday language. Anthropic stresses that access is read-only: Personal Finance “can’t move, manage, or invest your money,” and Claude “isn’t designed to give investment advice.”
What it can answer
Anthropic’s examples include “Where did my money go this month?”, whether spending is higher than usual, what’s left before payday, duplicate charges or creeping bills, and definitions such as APR with interest totals from your data. You can also ask for charts, calendars of what’s due, or a custom dashboard.
Illustrative dollar amounts in the article ($4,309.37 monthly spend, $1,024.51 food and drink, $1,393.22 left before payday) are worked examples in Anthropic’s copy, not claims about any real user’s accounts.
Security and privacy (per Anthropic)
- You sign in to your bank yourself through Plaid. Claude does not ask for or see your bank password.
- For connected accounts, Claude can see the bank name, account name/type/last four digits, balances and credit limits, and up to two years of transactions.
- Conversations in the Personal Finance hub are not used to train Anthropic’s models. Outside the hub, your usual privacy settings apply.
- Unlink an account anytime; Claude then loses access to that data.
- Anthropic says Claude can make mistakes—ask which transactions sit behind a number, and check important figures with your bank.
Anthropic also says Personal Finance has no ads or sponsored recommendations and does not offer Claude’s own credit cards, loans, or savings accounts.
Getting started and what’s next
When Personal Finance appears in Claude’s sidebar, open it, connect an account, and ask a question. Setup and data-use details are in Anthropic’s Help Center (linked from the article).
Anthropic calls this a first step and says it is exploring how Claude might work alongside licensed professionals and regulated firms; that part is forward-looking, not a shipped product.
Opinion: read-only plus a no-products stance is the right default for an AI money surface—still double-check any number that matters with your bank, as Anthropic itself warns Claude can make mistakes.
