Anthropic expands GSA deal: 40% off Claude for every level of US government
The discount now covers Claude Enterprise, Claude for Government and the API, with no minimum spend and an estimated $1 billion in savings.

Anthropic announced on October 27 that it is expanding its partnership with the US General Services Administration (GSA) through a new agreement giving government partners a 40% discount on Claude Enterprise, Claude for Government and the Claude API.
What’s new
- Every product surface: for the first time, the discount applies when agencies buy directly from Anthropic today, and through cloud providers “in the coming months.”
- Beyond federal: the discount extends to state, local, tribal and territorial governments.
- No minimum spend: agencies pay for the usage they consume. Anthropic estimates the discounts will save the government $1 billion.
- Implementation help: a dedicated program to help agencies roll out Claude, launching in the coming weeks.
Agencies can buy at the OneGov discount through GSA’s Multiple Award Schedule now.
Adoption and security
Anthropic says about 500 US federal, state and local government organizations use Claude, weekly Claude for Government active users are up about eightfold since February, and usage across federal civilian agencies has grown about 20-fold in a year. Claude for Government, generally available since September 30, runs at a FedRAMP High authorization level. Claude is also FedRAMP High authorized on Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, and Claude Enterprise is in process for FedRAMP Moderate through FedRAMP 20x.
Among the examples Anthropic cites: Utah gave Claude Code to 34 developers across 10 state agencies, and 71% reported saving 20+ hours by the end of a four-week pilot.
