Mortal Kombat 4 Leads Five Classics Joining GOG's Preservation Program
The 1997 fighter gets updated Glide emulation, modern controller support and a fix for a frozen Shinnok, alongside Gabriel Knight, BloodNet, Personal Nightmare and Weird Dreams

GOG has added five more games to its Preservation Program, its effort to keep classic games running on modern PCs. Each came with a changelog dated October 29.
Mortal Kombat 4
Mortal Kombat 4’s GOG update brings:
- improved compatibility with Windows 10 and 11
- updated 3dfx Glide emulation with custom resolutions and refresh rates, integer rendering and scaling, and anti-aliasing
- updated CD audio music emulation
- full support for modern controllers, including DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One and Xbox 360 pads, Switch 2 Pro and Switch Pro controllers, with hotplugging and wireless mode
- reworked default keyboard and gamepad bindings
- a fix for Shinnok’s rendering when he’s frozen by Sub-Zero
GOG also released a video on its Mortal Kombat 4 work.
The other four
- Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers now includes both the DOS version on DOSBox and the Windows version on ScummVM, with a launcher to choose between them, subtitles on by default, cloud saves, and the graphic novel, a making-of documentary and the original trailer as extras.
- BloodNet moves both its floppy and CD versions to DOSBox Staging 0.83 and adds gamepad support with hotplugging, controller rebinding and cloud saves for the floppy version.
- Personal Nightmare gets the GOG Game Configurator.
- Weird Dreams moves to DOSBox Staging 0.83 and gets the configurator.
These are Windows releases. GamingOnLinux notes that Linux players can use the Heroic launcher until GOG ships its promised GOG Galaxy for Linux.
