Apple Creator Studio Update Brings MotionVFX, Generate Fill and AI Assistants in November

Existing subscribers get it free. Pricing stays at $12.99 a month or $129 a year, and there's no release date yet beyond "this November."

Apple today announced its next update to Apple Creator Studio, the subscription that bundles Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor and MainStage with premium features in Keynote, Pages and Numbers. Apple’s Newsroom release calls it “our most exciting update since the launch of Apple Creator Studio,” which happened in January. The update reaches the App Store “this November.” Apple hasn’t given an exact date.

Some coverage frames this as a preorder. That’s not quite right. It’s a free update to an existing subscription, so there’s nothing to preorder.

Final Cut Pro and Motion

  • MotionVFX is built into Final Cut Pro for Mac. Apple says that means thousands of templates, graphics, titles and transitions, plus tools for rotoscoping, tracking and color grading.
  • Content Hub comes to Final Cut Pro, with Apple-curated stock video, photos and backgrounds.
  • Pixelmator Pro round trip: open any timeline image in Pixelmator Pro, and the edits save back to the project without reimporting.
  • Final Cut Pro also gains text-to-image generation, more keyframe easing options, clips that can be disconnected from the primary storyline, and 23 new transcription languages.
  • Motion gets its own built-in MotionVFX plug-ins for color grading, 3D camera tracking and one-click selection, plus a new Displacement filter.
  • Compressor can encode Cinematic mode video recorded on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo.

Pixelmator Pro: Generate Fill

Generate Fill lets you circle part of an image, or use the existing selection tools, and then describe the change you want. Apple says it matches the surrounding lighting, perspective and texture, and that Super Resolution upscales the result. You can merge generated elements into a layer or add them as a new masked layer.

Logic Pro

  • An all-new Liquid Glass design on Mac and iPad.
  • A new intelligent assistant (beta) on Mac, “powered by a combination of Apple-built models and OpenAI.” It can start a song, set up a vocal track from a single prompt or refine a project.
  • A redesigned Browser on Mac that puts loops, instruments, effect patches and a Splice library in one place. On-device “music understanding” tags your sounds automatically.
  • Stem Splitter can now isolate, replace or rebalance drums. There’s also a new Sergio George Producer Pack.

Keynote, Pages and Numbers

All three get a beta intelligent assistant, which Apple says is “built on Apple models and OpenAI” and understands document context. They also add MCP support, so external AI agents and tools can read and edit documents, along with stock video in Content Hub and new premium themes and templates. Keynote adds an open, JSON-based .keyx file format. Freeform’s Pixelmator Pro editing and text-to-shapes tools arrive in December.

Price and availability

  • Current subscribers: free update.
  • New subscribers: $12.99 a month or $129 a year (U.S.), with a one-month free trial.
  • Three months free when you buy a new Mac or qualifying iPad.
  • Education: $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year.
  • Family Sharing: up to six family members.

Apple also announced the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 and a new M6 iMac today. Preorders for both open Oct 28.

Our take

For Mac creators, built-in MotionVFX is the headline. It’s a paid plug-in library that now comes with the subscription at no extra cost. The OpenAI-backed assistants are labeled beta, so expect rough edges when the update ships in November.
